...not enough time? ~ we are the masters of time!

eternity is nothing but the constant present.
~ st. augustine capture the constant present and to hang on and become its master, as time and its meaning vanish away, is the purpose of such indulgences as thursday art night. focus attention on experiencing the present moment springs us away and releases us from the traps of time ...and thus the human spirit is freed to wander the plane of eternity by being lost in the constant present.
...let us gather again as artists, as time travelers, as freemen who are masters of the constant present.

...we are blown adrift in the wind

...another month falls unnoticed like a silent leaf withering and floating away from the tree of our collective creativity. ...we stop and ask ourselves this "was it a good run? ...did we give it our all?" do we look back fondly on the myriad of memories generated through our devotion not only to the craft of artistic expression but also to one another and the kinship of connection.

i like the rest of you have no answers, only black hole questions which haunt my thoughts and disturb my nightly hours of slumber ~ is there no future for the thursdayart brotherhood?

Tuesday, June 15, 2010

...a moment of sadness

...what's up brethren of the artistic expressions?

...are we already creatively tapped out or bored of one another or so busy that we seriously can't find time for a 2-3 hour connection once a month?! that it is summer let us expand our thinking into outdoor adventures / urban treks / nights of reckless abandon and comradery ~ save the indoor collaborations for the dark winter months!

...with summer trips and activities it will require a higher level of planning and individual commitment ~ i officially voice my support to keep the vibe alive who amongst you can join me? ...come revel w/the Brotherhood!!

Those who are of the Brotherhood know each other, and time and space cannot separate them, ...all change that is real is due to the Brotherhood.

Yo Boyz. Art night at my house this Thursday. Lots of German/Austrian stuff. Bratwurst, German potato salad and much more...

Let the flying toasters begin.

In the spirit of Dada:

Idea: Everyone bring one kitchen item from Deseret Industries to art night and we can take some cool pix -- suspended appliances, etc.

...come join the Brotherhood

you had better bring a baton! ...cause it's on! (it is on is very, very on!) the shadow of the vernal equinox... i invite all comers to exercise their demons joined in another evening of communally expressed artistic vibrations.

...bring delicious munchies to inspire the soul

Through art mysterious bonds of understanding and of knowledge are established among men. They are the bonds of a great Brotherhood. Those who are of the Brotherhood know each other, and time and space cannot separate them.

The Brotherhood is powerful. It has many members. They are of all places and of all times. They do not die, and that part of him that is of the Brotherhood does not die.

The work of the Brotherhood does not deal with surface events. No matter what may happen on the surface (of society) the Brotherhood goes steadily on. It is the evolution of man. Let the surface destroy itself, the Brotherhood will start again. For in all cases, no matter how strong the surface institutions become, no matter what laws be laid down, all change that is real is due to the Brotherhood.

Maybe Next Thursday?

I haven't heard from anyone else, and I hate to pass up a good thursday night of art, so why don't we push it off to next thursday. I am still more than happy to host if no one else can.

If you were planning on attending, call or email ( and let me know. If plenty of people were interested--but silent--it isn't too late for tonight.

"I carry my camera as a sketchbook."
I have always thought that filmmakers use the camera as a sketchbook yes, but 10 times more now with the digital camera.
Here is a piece my Robert Rauschenberg, one of my favorite artists.

How about a theme or subject matter--or would everyone just like to bring what they are working on--which is fine with me. Worked out great last time.

religious show at Springville Museum of Art

I did the Springville Museum of Art religious show. There was a few cool pieces there. There is always a butt load of art of Jesus that look like photographs---like Brother Jones down the road grew a beard they put a robe on him and took a picture of him and then spend 6 months painting him---not super fond of that but different strokes right. This is kind of a cool piece and there was a piece by Fidalis David Kanoanikie Buehler, one of my favorite local artists.
